System requirements

Running Bareun requires mid-range or better computing performance.

• CPU
  • x64: AMD64-compatible CPU with 4 or more cores
  • macOS servers and laptops based on M1 or M2
• Memory: 4 GB or more
• Disk: 2 GB or more (beyond the installer itself, enough room for the several hundred MB of models and dictionaries downloaded on first run)
• Network: TCP/IP enabled in your OS
  • The first run needs one outbound HTTPS connection to download the model (see First run after installation). For installation in a closed network, see Model update.

Supported environments

• Linux: Any distribution can be supported. However, we have tested only on recent Linux distributions.
• Windows: Windows 7 or later is recommended. Verified on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
• Macintosh: Runs on macOS, on x64 and on M1 and M2 machines.

GPU

Bareun performs much better on a GPU. If you want to use a GPU, use an NVIDIA GPU.
